Here you can find answers to some of our frequently asked questions and learn more about our cause!

What areas does TMM serve?

We proudly serve the following areas across the North Mississippi Region: Alcorn, Itawamba, Lee, Pontotoc, Lafayette, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, Union, Yalobusha, Oktibbeha, Coahoma, Choctaw, Monroe, Tate, Chickasaw, DeSoto, Montgomery, Attala, Leflore, Panola, Sunflower, Holmes, Calhoun, Tunica, Benton, Stone, Tallahatchie, Bolivar, Lowndes, Winston, Quitman, Carroll, Grenada, and Marshall.

How much does it cost to adopt?

Our adoption fees start at $30 and increases depending on the type of animal and their individual needs.

What does the adoption fee include?

When the adoption process is complete, the animal will be up to date on vet care. You will also receive an adoption pack that includes various goodies for your new companion! You will also receive 24/7 access to the rescue for any issues and a 30 day health guarantee.

What if I get my new companion home and they aren't a good fit?

We offer a 30 day return period for. During those 30 days, if the animal is not a good fit and you must return it, a refund can be processed or the animal can be exchanged for one that would be a better fit if available at that time.

What if I live away from the rescue and want to adopt?

We adopt out to Mississippi residents. If you are not located in the North MS region, we can arrange a meeting within a reasonable distance from you. We do make adopter exceptions for Memphis, TN residents due to proximity and laws/policies.

Why was my adoption application denied?

Applications can be denied for numerous reasons. We reserve the right to deny or accept applications at discretion based on the animal's needs. Our Board accepts or denies applications as a group. If you are denied and you have questions regarding why, please reach out to us!

Why should I become a foster?

Foster families are very vital to our rescue. Fostering a pet allows us to free up space to bring in more animals in need. Fostering is also excellent enrichment for the animals to give them time away from the rescue life and bring out their personality.

What do I need to be a foster?

We supply everything you need for fostering, you just supply your home and loving care!

Does it cost to foster?

Fostering is free! We supply everything if requested, but we do encourage you to spoil your friend while fostering! We do send a list of safe/recommended items for your foster animal, in case you would like to do that.

Are there kid friendly fosters available?

Absolutely! We know the temperaments of all of our animals. We carefully place appropriate animals with appropriate environments and homes.

Do I need to live in the area to foster?

Yes, you must live in the North MS area to foster. The closer to Oxford/Saltillo, the better due to our vet's location.

Do you offer foster-to-adopt?

ABSOLUTELY! Many people use fostering as a trial period before official adoption to see if the animal is a good fit for their family and lifestyle. In this case, we mark the animal as unavailable, but we ask that the foster communicate with us regarding updates. It is vital that if this decision is finalized or changes that we are made aware, just in case someone comes along looking for an animal that matches that one's personality, needs, etc.

What does volunteer work entail?

We currently run the rescue strictly from our home as well as from foster homes. We are working to eventually secure a separate building to house our rescues. Without a physical facility, our volunteer work is a bit different looking. Our volunteer form has various different options for tasks! We mainly ask for help with events, social media networking, and animal transport as needed. Please reach out if you are looking for specific tasks or have more questions!

Do volunteers get paid?

No. We are a strictly non-profit organization. We do not make any money that does not directly go back into animal rescue. Volunteers work for the experience and from the kindness of their heart. That being said, if you are a student who is seeking letters of recommendation after hands on work with exotic animals, we will gladly write one. We love our students seeking animal experience for their future careers!

Why do I need to contact you for a minor looking to volunteer?

Sometimes we work with animals that carry inherent risks, such as bites, scratches, or potential allergic reactions. If you are under the age of 18, we need a consent form to be filled out for you by a guardian.
